I feel like those who stayed in the Soviet Union right up until 1991… except that most Soviets actually knew their system was terrible. They had two governmental “news” outlets, the main Communist newspaper and the main Soviet newspaper, Pravda and Izvestia. Those names meant “the truth” and “the news” respectively… and a popular Russian saying was “v Pravde net izvestiy, v Izvestiyakh net pravdy” (In the Truth there is no news, and in the News there is no truth).
Here the local slaves still think the propaganda and drivel on CNN and other mainstream programming is actually both the truth and real news!
It’s a good thing I am still sitting in a bar and can drink the only government-approved intoxicating agent…even if it is the least effective and slowest of the various ways to make the world melt away. No wonder everyone here drinks so much!
It’s really looking like the final chapter of Atlas Shrugged with everyone clinging to centrally planned solutions even as those solutions accelerate economic collapse.

Hence the trash that newspapers are capable of serving up is of little danger —— much less of importance——-to the third group of readers. In the majority of cases these readers have learnt to regard every journalist as fundamentally a rogue who sometimes speaks the truth. Most unfortunately the value of these readers lies in their intelligence and not in their numerical strength, an unhappy state of affairs in a period where wisdom counts for nothing and majorities for everything. Nowadays when the voting papers of the masses are the deciding factor; the decision lies in the hands of the numerically strongest group; that is to say the first group, the crowd of simpletons and the credulous…………………………

“In Houston, Texas, a group of Christians was banned from dispensing food to the homeless. They were told they would not be granted a permit to do so in the future even if they applied for one.
Bobby and Amanda Herring spent more than a year providing food to homeless people in downtown Houston every day. They fed them, left behind no trash and doled out warm meals peacefully without a single crime being committed, Bobby Herring said.
That ended two weeks ago when the city shut down their “Feed a Friend” effort for lack of a permit. And city officials say the couple most likely will not be able to obtain one. “We don’t really know what they want, we just think that they don’t want us down there feeding people,” said Bobby Herring, a Christian rapper who goes by the stage name Tre9.
Dallas, Texas has adopted a law that restricts the ability of individuals and ministries to feed the homeless.
A Dallas-area ministry is suing the city over a food ordinance that restricts the group from giving meals to the homeless.
Courts dismissed Dallas’ request for a summary judgment last week, saying the case, brought up by pastor Don Hart (in video above) may indeed be a violation of free exercise of religion, as protected by the Texas Religious Freedom Restoration Act, the blog Religion Clause reported. In the court filing, the ministry leaders argue that their Christian faith requires them to share meals with the homeless (Jesus did!) and that the requirement that even churches and charities provide toilets, sinks, trained staff and consent of the city keeps them from doing so.
Las Vegas, Nevada became the first major U.S. city to pass laws banning the feeding of homeless people. That law has been blocked by a federal judge. Learning from this experience, many U.S. cities have been very careful not to mention “the indigent” or “the homeless” in the laws they pass banning the feeding the homeless.
Las Vegas, whose homeless population has doubled in the past decade to about 12,000 people in and around the city, joins several other cities across the country that have adopted or considered ordinances limiting the distribution of charitable meals in parks. Most have restricted the time and place of such handouts, hoping to discourage homeless people from congregating and, in the view of officials, ruining efforts to beautify downtowns and neighborhoods. But the Las Vegas ordinance is believed to be the first to explicitly make it an offense to feed “the indigent.”
New York City banned all food donations to government-run homeless shelters because lawmakers claim the donations are not nutritious enough.
The Bloomberg administration is now taking the term “food police” to new depths, blocking food donations to all government-run facilities that serve the city’s homeless. In conjunction with a mayoral task force and the Health Department, the Department of Homeless Services recently started enforcing new nutritional rules for food served at city shelters. Since DHS can’t assess the nutritional content of donated food, shelters have to turn away good Samaritans.
Elected representatives continue to pass regulations and laws with no end in sight.
Sadly, this power grabbing by our state governments may be masking a bigger plan. All over the country, the Department of Homeland Security has been building FEMA Camps designed to house millions of displaced Americans. DHS claims these facilities were constructed to assist the government in the event of an economic disaster. Considering the foreclosure crisis and unemployment problem in the US is creating a larger homeless population, would soon be the time to activate these FEMA Camps for use?
Appears that the states are becoming increasingly hostile toward the homeless. How long would it take before the US government offers a stay at the FEMA Camps to alleviate the “problem” for the individual states?”

Tech companies rush to issue (false) denials
“………Immediately after these revelations surfaced over the past few days, all these companies began denying any involvement with the NSA. “Google CEO Larry Page and Facebook chief executive Mark Zuckerberg are denying reports that depict two of the Internet’s most influential companies as willing participants in a secret government program that gives the National Security Agency unfettered access to email and other personal information transmitted on various online services,” reports the San Francisco branch of CBS News.
But what nobody is yet revealing is that all these companies are required by law to LIE to their own customers about secret government surveillance.
The Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act, you see, makes it a federal crime for any company participating in the surveillance to publicly acknowledge the existence of that surveillance. Thus, executives at Facebook, Google, Skype and others would all face arrest and federal prosecution as “terrorists” if they admitted the truth to their own users.
That’s just how far down the rabbit hole this government surveillance program goes: Not only does the government spy on you and everything you do — “they quite literally can watch your ideas as you type” — the government can also force all the tech companies cooperating with the spying to publicly deny the existence of the program.
But the New York Times — yes, the NYT which hardly ever engages is actual journalism — has gone public with an article confirming that these tech companies did, indeed, concede to the NSA surveillance program. “They opened discussions with national security officials about developing technical methods to more efficiently and securely share the personal data of foreign users in response to lawful government requests. And in some cases, they changed their computer systems to do so,” says the NYT in an article titled Tech Companies Concede to Surveillance Program………….”.
